Choosing the right signage, graphics, or printing solution can feel overwhelming when there are so many materials, display options, and production methods available. This FAQ page answers common questions about custom signs, banners, vehicle graphics, wall murals, storefront signage, installation services, and large format printing.
At Sarasota Sign Shop, we believe informed clients make better decisions. Explore the questions below to learn more about our process, capabilities, materials, turnaround times, and what to expect when planning your next project.
Getting Started
How do you determine the best print of sign solution for my needs?
We begin with a conversation about your goals, target audience, and the environment where the sign or print will be displayed. We evaluate whether it will be indoors or outdoors, what level of durability is needed, and the impression you want to create. Our team often visits your business in Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, or Lakewood Ranch to take measurements and review site conditions. Afterward, we provide a clear proposal outlining materials, production, and installation so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you offer on-site consultations and surveys?
Yes. We perform site surveys to measure accurately, assess lighting, wall texture, and access for equipment. A visit ensures your sign or print fits correctly the first time. On-site consultations are available throughout Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, and Lakewood Ranch.
Can you help if I don’t have design files?
Yes. Our in-house design team can create new artwork or recreate low-resolution images. We match your brand colors and style, and prepare files that are ready for print. Every design is checked for scale, readability, and compatibility with the selected material.
Design and File Setup
What file types do you accept?
PDF is preferred because it preserves fonts and artwork. We also accept AI, EPS, SVG, TIFF, and high-resolution PNG or JPG. Please outline all fonts and embed linked images. If your files are not set up correctly, we can fix or convert them before printing.
What resolution should my images be?
Images should be 300 DPI for small prints. For large-format printing, 100 to 150 DPI at full size is usually ideal. We review your files to make sure they will print clean and sharp. If resolution is low, we can rebuild elements or source higher-quality alternatives.
Do I need bleed and safe margins?
Yes. Bleed allows clean trimming without white edges. Use a 0.125 inch bleed for small prints and around one inch for larger signs or banners. Keep any important text at least 0.25 inch from the trim line. We check bleed and safe margins before printing to ensure accuracy.
Can you fix low-resolution files or poor images?
Often yes. We can recreate logos, retouch images, or replace low-quality graphics. If needed, we can vectorize artwork so it scales cleanly. You will see a proof of our changes before final approval.
What fonts work best for sign readability?
Bold, simple fonts work best. Sans serif styles like Helvetica, Arial, or Montserrat are easy to read from a distance. Avoid thin or script fonts for large signs. We size text for optimal visibility based on your viewing distance and use contrast to make your message stand out.
Color and Proofing
Will color on my screen match the printed color?
Colors vary between screens, printers, and lighting conditions. To get exact colors, we recommend a printed proof on the actual material before final production. We keep records of approved colors for future reprints and consistency across your projects.
Can I get a printed proof before production?
Yes. We can provide a printed sample on your chosen material. Proofs help confirm color, clarity, and finish before full production. Once you approve, we use the proof as the standard for the full print run.
Can you match a previous print job?
Yes. We archive materials, print settings, and color data for every job. For accurate matches, we can reprint based on our records or match against a physical sample you provide.
Materials & Durability
What materials do you offer?
We print on vinyl, paper, aluminum composite, PVC, acrylic, corrugated plastic, foam board, fabric, and more. We also offer Type II DreamScape wallcoverings and premium cast vinyl for vehicle wraps. The right material depends on where the piece will be displayed and how long it needs to last.
Can you print any size?
Yes. Our large-format printers handle almost any size. We produce everything from small decals to full building wraps. For oversized projects, we tile graphics to create seamless installation.
How long will my sign or print last outdoors?
Outdoor lifespan varies depending on material and exposure. Many exterior signs last three to ten years. We use UV-resistant inks and weather-stable substrates. For full sun exposure, we may recommend extra lamination or protective coating for extended durability.
Do I need lamination?
Lamination protects prints against scratching, fading, and moisture. It also enhances appearance with gloss or matte finish. We recommend lamination for outdoor, high-traffic, or high-touch applications.
Are your prints waterproof and UV resistant?
Yes. We use durable inks and materials that withstand Florida sun, rain, and humidity. With lamination, your signs and prints stay vibrant and sharp for many years.
Can I clean my signs and graphics?
Yes. Use mild soap and a soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Regular care helps maintain the appearance of vehicle wraps, window graphics, and wall murals.
Finishes & Mounting
What finishing options are available?
We provide cutting, drilling, grommets, pole pockets, hems, standoffs, and adhesive backings. The right finish depends on where and how you plan to display the sign. All finishing is handled in-house for full control over quality.
What mounting hardware do you use?
For rigid wall signs, we use standoffs, cleats, or direct mounting. For windows, removable adhesive or static cling. Banners can be hung with reinforced grommets and cords. Our installers choose the hardware that best fits your project and location.
Can you produce double-sided prints or signs?
Yes. Double-sided banners, window graphics, and panels are available. These are ideal for suspended, street-facing, or walk-around displays.
Installation
Do you handle installation?
Yes. We install all signs we produce, including storefronts, wall murals, windows, and wraps. Our team brings the right tools and lift equipment for safe and accurate placement.
Can you install after hours or on weekends?
Yes. We offer flexible scheduling for installs during evenings, mornings, or weekends to minimize business disruption.
Turnaround, Rush Orders, and Shipping
What is your normal turnaround time?
Most projects take three to five business days after proof approval. Larger or more complex installations take longer. We communicate timelines clearly when you place your order.
Do you offer rush services?
Yes. Rush production is available for urgent jobs. Let us know your schedule and we will do everything possible to meet your deadline. Rush fees may apply.
Do you deliver or ship orders?
Yes. We deliver locally in Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton, and Lakewood Ranch. We also ship statewide and package items securely for safe arrival.
Pricing and Quotes
How do you price signs and prints?
Pricing depends on size, material, finishing, and installation requirements. We provide itemized quotes with no hidden fees.
Do you offer bulk or repeat order discounts?
Yes. Discounts are available for ongoing clients and repeat orders. We also create custom pricing for agencies and multi-location businesses.
Can I get a site-specific estimate?
Yes. For outdoor installations, we prefer an on-site visit to measure and inspect the space. This helps ensure accurate quotes with no surprises.
